shedkm ISO 19650 Implementation

BIMBox supported shedkm in the delivery and implementation of ISO 19650 standards, in line with the best practice UK BIM Framework requirements, to enhance their capability and capacity to deliver BIM projects.

Following the initial engagement, BIMBox worked closely with shedkm to conduct a series of customised workshops. These workshops helped shedkm implement the necessary processes, tools, and resources required to achieve ISO 19650 certification from BSI. This certification serves as evidence of their success in UKAS accreditation.

shedkm ISO 19650 Implementation

shedkm is a UK-based architecture practice established 25 years ago with a portfolio of transformational schemes and vibrant new city neighbourhoods. Based in London and Liverpool, shedkm practices socially responsive design. Their work demonstrates a people-first approach to placemaking, creating vibrant neighbourhoods and long-term social and environmental sustainability. shedkm identified an opportunity to boost internal BIM capabilities and increase the efficiency of the production of digital deliverables through the implementation of a set of bespoke BIM procedures, developed in line with the international ISO 19650 standards.

Across a series of collaborative workshops both in London and Liverpool, BIMBox developed and authored bespoke documents and workflows tailored to shedkm. BIMBox proceeded to build around shedkm’s ways of working, ensuring a clear and accessible structure to internal teams, and supporting the onboarding of new procedures.

From an initial Gap Analysis, and the appraisal of existing technical documentation, policies, and procedures, BIMBox identified core areas that would benefit from further consideration to actively support shedkm in their BIM development journey. Through regular communication and feedback, BIMBox produced a defined set of documentation of resources. Producing a market-leading toolkit, tailored to shedkm’s methods of working that reflect updated processes, workflows, and CDE management for which workshops were undertaken to support this implementation. BIMBox configured BIM360 as the CDE platform for future use, supporting the implementation of approval workflows and delivery of quality assurance gates to inform accurate Information Management.

BIMBox expanded shedkm’s existing Asset Information Delivery Plan (AIDP) to develop a strategy for implementing innovative totems to provide an accessible route to the golden thread of information to support shedkm to meet the ‘Digital Management of Fire Safety Information’ requirements of projects.

Supported by BIMBox throughout the auditing process, shedkm successfully achieved certification from the BSI with UKAS accreditation, aligning themselves with international BIM standards by obtaining this certification.
