Meridian Water Railway Station

As part of the £170m Lee Valley Rail Programme the Meridian Water regeneration programme is expected to accommodate up to 4 million passengers, over the next 20 years. Construction started in November 2017 and topped-out in 2019 with the newly completed modern-styled station comprising three platforms, lift access, a footbridge and retail space replacing the previous Angel Road Station in Edmonton, London.

£46m Project

BIMBox was appointed as Lead Information Management on the £46m Meridian Water Station project in Enfield, London for Network Rail and VolkerFitzpatrick. BIMBox was also the BIM Co-ordination Consultant responsible for project co-ordination and delivery of the digital twin.

Efficiencies from the BIM process led to the project saving over £250,000 in costs and opening 6 months sooner than a non-BIM Network Rail project, Tottenham Hale Station, which was delivered concurrently.

This was the first true ‘BIM Level 2’ project for Network Rail and it therefore carried a significant amount of value, both financially and symbolically, setting a precedent for all other Network Rail ‘BIM Level 2’ projects moving forward

BIMBox set out the Information Management Strategy and provided implementation services to the project team, verifying all Project Data and its compliance with PAS 1192 (the latest guidance at the time – construction started in November 2017).

As part of the overarching consultancy service, BIMBox produced the single COBie co-ordinated Schema, performed and supervised the extensive Clash Detection and Reporting, and provided ongoing support to the multi-disciplinary Project Team and Task Teams via co-ordination workshops, verifying and where necessary, upskilling the delivery team to provide a network of capabilities.

Through managing the movement of Project BIM Documentation, BIMBox appraised and authored Project Standards and Protocols including the Employer’s Information Requirements, Asset Information Requirements, BIM Execution Plan and Co-ordinated COBie Schemas. Ensuring consistent, accurate and clear COBie data was delivered, reducing the risk of unforeseen issues and mismanagement of data that can lead to delays

Having written the BEP and the AIDP, then used Navisworks and custom Solibri rulesets to provide support, training, guidance and governance to ensure everyone was able to deliver the right information, to the right people, at the right time.

BIMBox ensured the Project Information Model consistently met the necessary BIM ‘Level 2’ standards and compliancy requirements and facilitated the successful co-ordination of multi-disciplinary design and construction information.
