Cefn Saeson Comprehensive School
BIMBox was appointed by Morgan Sindall as Information Manager on the new £27m Cefn Caeson Comprehensive School in Neath Port Talbot, Wales. Neath Port Talbot Council commissioned the project as part of its Strategic School Improvement Programme (SSIP) and it has been delivered under the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools Programme.
800 Students
Cefn Saeson Comprehensive School in Neath, South Wales includes extensive facilities for more than 800 students, aged 11-16. From 48 state-of-the-art classrooms, a bespoke learning support centre, four MUGA courts (multi-use games area) to an activity studio and a 3G pitch, the development aims to provide young people from the surrounding community access to the best possible educational facilities.
BIMBox provided a comprehensive Information Management service for Morgan Sindall Construction on the project, supporting the ambitious objectives and forming an efficient route to project success.
Our role saw the creation of a defined, collaborative process that established a clear pathway for the successful delivery of the digital asset, aligned to project objectives. BIMBox undertook regular model auditing and data verification exercises to ensure project models complied with the Project Building Execution Plan (BEP), as well as best practice, through reviews of geometry and information in supplier models.
BIMBox also led systemic clash detection, reporting and resolution exercises throughout the project utilising Navisworks, supporting the co-ordinated design process to aid the contractor and project team’s delivery and avoid interruptions to progress.
Further support provided by BIMBox included the verification and production of single coordinated COBie schema, as well as regular technical guidance and support.
The collaborative, productive and methodised information management on the project supported its efficiency savings, which resulted in, most notably, its completion three months ahead of schedule.
