Network Rail - Meridian Water Station

    As part of the £170m Lee Valley Rail Programme the Meridian Water regeneration programme is expected to accommodate up to 4 million passengers, over the next 20 years. Construction started in November 2017 and topped-out in 2019 with the newly completed modern-styled station comprising three platforms, lift access, a footbridge and retail space replacing the previous Angel Road Station in Edmonton, London.

    Working in partnership with Volker Fitzpatrick as Lead Contractor, BIMBOX were appointed as Lead Information Management and BIM Co-ordination Consultant on the first true Level 2 BIM Project for the client, Network Rail. As a flagship Level 2 BIM Project for Network Rail the Meridian Water Development carried a significant amount of value, both financially and symbolically, setting a precedent for all other Level 2 projects moving forward, it was thus imperative the strategy and implementation were seamlessly delivered. BIMBOX were enlisted as trusted advisors to help set out the Information Management Strategy and provide implementation services to the rest of the project team, paying particular attention to the verification of all Project Data and its compliance with Government mandated BIM Level 2 Policy, Protocols and Standards.

     

    As part of the overarching consultancy service, BIMBOX produced the single COBie co-ordinated Schema, performed and supervised the extensive Clash Detection and Reporting, and provided ongoing support to the multi-disciplinary Project Team and Task Teams via co-ordination workshops, verifying and where necessary, upskilling the delivery team to provide a network of capabilities.

    Responsibilities fulfilled by BIMBOX on the project include:


    • Project BIM Documentation: Appraisal and Authoring of project Standards and Protocols including EIR, AIR, BEP, Co-ordinated COBie Schemas.

    • Technical Oversight and Implementation: Advice, configuration of Project BIM Software / Tools such as Navisworks, Solibri, Revit

    • Stakeholder Engagement: Trusted Advisor to the delivery team and client, managing expectations and alignment of critical-path deliverables affected by Information Management

    • Project Co-ordination and Delivery: scheduled updating, auditing and verification of value-adding data, both remote and on-site

    • Clash Detection performance and reporting: ensured the Project Information Model consistently met the necessary BIM Level 2 standards and compliancy requirements, and facilitated the successful co-ordination of multi-disciplinary design and construction information

    • Training and Support: Regularly holding Workshops and providing Technical support for the Client and Delivery Team ensured the seamless flow of value-adding information throughout the project and ensured the Quality assurance and control expectations were met without fail.
